Ca urmare a activitatii sale in domeniul cercetarii spatiale si a promovarii acesteia si a sustinerii initierii "Zilei Internationale a Asteroizilor"(30 iunie), primul si singurul cosmonaut roman General locotenent ing. Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu a devenit "nasul" de botez al unui asteroid!

Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu (b. 1952 ) became the first Romanian cosmonaut flying in 1981 aboard Soyuz 40 to the Salyut 6 space laboratory. He is one of the proposal initiators for International Asteroid Day (June 30) declared by the UN General Assembly. [Ref: Minor Planet Circ. 103977]
